The Future Of The Haulix Blog

Welcome back, everyone. We have been teasing the expansion of the Haulix blog for several weeks and are finally prepared to let you know about everything we have in store over the next few months.

We promised you seven days of content beginning February 1 and that is a guarantee we intend to keep. The holiday break in December 2013 gave the entire team a chance to relax and reflect on everything that had run and been created for this blog during its first six months of life. We were proud of what had been accomplished, but universally felt we could do even more if we pushed ourselves, and knew that doing so would only further benefit our readers.

When January arrived we found ourselves buried in feature requests and scheduling delays, which initially had us worried about our abilities to move things forward as soon as we had originally hoped. That changed about a week into the year however, and since that time we have been hard at work developing new features, creating promotional artwork, and building a stable of guest contributors that will aide us in taking things to the next level.

So what exactly does the future hold?

You already know about our plans for additional weekly content, but our longterm goal is to have a minimum of 10 new posts every week by summer. To do this, we are going to be rolling out a plethora of new columns and features over the next several months that we feel will help further aide DIY musicians and aspiring industry professionals in pursuing their dreams. Some of the new content planned includes:

Journalism Tips – Music journalists were the original focus of this blog and we’re determined to engage them even further in 2014 with the debut of this recurring feature. Through posts written by our own editorial team, as well as several guest contributors from around the industry, we will provide you with everything you need to know in order to create, maintain, and build a successful digital publication. From choosing a name and starting a site, to social media marketing, contributor recruitment, networking, requesting event coverage and beyond, this feature will be every writer’s new best friend when it launches later this month.

Bands Helping Bands – We love our advice series as much as any other column on the Haulix blog, but there is always something to be said for learning about the industry from your peers. We have dedicated our lives to music, but admittedly are not professional musicians ourselves. This column will feature original content geared to DIY artists crafted by musicians currently active in the industry.

Management Spotlight – Building off the popularity of our Publicity and Blogger Spotlight columns, this feature will provide readers with a first-hand account of daily life in the music industry from the perspective a manager’s position. We have been building interviews and content for this feature since early January and are incredibly excited to share the insight and advice provided by the individuals highlighted with all of you. Whether you’re an artist trying to decide if you need management, or if you’re an aspiring professional looking to sign your first band, we promise there will be something to aide you in your efforts in every installment of this series.

Music Industry Job Board – It dawned on us recently that providing you with all the information you need to make it in music does not matter all that much if you have no idea where to apply. Once a week from here on out we will be gathering and sharing the latest job postings from around the web geared towards entertainment industry professionals. If you own a business and would like to share current openings with our readers, please email james@haulix.com for more information.

These are only four of close to a dozen new ideas we hope to roll out in the months ahead, but they are on the only one we feel comfortable revealing at this time. Each one of the items above will make its debut during the month of February, and who knows? We may even surprise you with another new idea or two as well. Guess you’ll have to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn to find out.

Looking a bit further into the future we will most certainly have daily coverage from the sights and sounds of SXSW. Beyond that we have a few additional event appearance planned, and we may even launch a webinar series, but for now we are focused on making this blog the best it can possibly be.

Thank you for your support up to this point. The next few weeks will be jam packed with great content and we certainly hope you’ll keep coming back to see what’s new. We’ll be back tomorrow with our first Spotlight feature of the new week.
