Beats By Dre goes wireless with a little help from Pinocchio

Beats By Dre spent the last week teasing a major announcement that would pull together its many celebrity spokespeople for a single event. The curtains have now been pulled back to reveal what many assumed would happen sooner or later, and that is the fact the Apple-owned company is going wireless.

As you will notice in the video above, the latest Beats By Dre campaign is encouraging music fans to buy new headphones to replace their wired (AKA outdated) ones. Celebrities such as Michael Phelps, Nicki Minaj, Karen Civil, Steve Buscemi, Rebel Wilson, and Amber Rose are seen lip syncing along to the Pinocchio song “I’ve Got No Strings” while showing off what they can do with wireless headphones.

In truth, the movements made possible by wireless headphones don’t appear that different from those capable when wearing wired ones, but most probably won’t notice this thanks to the cavalcade of stars Beats has recruited for the promotion.

The decision to go wireless comes just a month after Apple announced it was killing the headphone jack in the latest models of its wildly popular iPhone. That move has been the subject of much criticism in the last few weeks, with many complaining that Apple is making decisions for the consumer without gauging whether or not consumers seek such changes, but with this promotion from Beats it seems clear the multi-billion dollar company has no plans to backtrack anytime soon. The future is wireless.
