Remembering Tim Landers (Transit, Misser, Cold Collective)

Join us in celebrating the life of Tim Landers, an innovator in the world of alternative music.

News broke on Sunday, February 3, through social media that musician Tim Landers passed away in recent days. The heartbreaking truth was relayed by Landers’ “best friend and soulmate,” Nicole Theiss, and confirmed by his former band Transit on Twitter.

Landers was born and raised in the Boston area, but known around the world. His career in music took off through his work with Transit and continued with groups such as Misser, Off & On, and Cold Collective. Each project had a distinct sound that gave Landers the ability to try his hand at anything that would to strike his interest. He seemed to be the kind of person who could accomplish anything he set his mind to, and because of that, his influence on future generations of musicians will be great.

We at Haulix played a small in Landers’ career. Nearly every release he produced was promoted through our services. We were among the first to hear the stories of friendship found on Transit’s Young New England, as well as fortunate enough to have heard Misser’s “I’m Really Starting To Hope The World Ends In 2012” before it took the underground by storm. We even welcomed Landers onto our podcast, Inside Music, during the summer of 2015.

Today, we are sharing that conversation with Landers once more in hopes of helping start the healing process for all those grieving his loss. Tim chats with host James Shotwell about his life in Boston, as well as his approach to creativity. He shares stories and laughs that have lingered in our hearts and minds ever since.
