Capitol Music Group is seeking a candidate to join the Artist Relations & Touring Team. This is a unique, multi-faceted position that will focus on budgeting and accounting [including but not limited to Touring and TV / Radio appearances]. Organizational skills, while multitasking, are required and excel is necessary for managing and monitoring costs. Working on this team, you must be able to operate in high stress situations, using quick problem-solving techniques while maintaining a high attention to detail. Whilst you will work closely with all departments, the role will be expected to have a strong relationship with the Finance Department.

How We LEAD

As an Director, Touring (Budgeting), you will be responsible for managing and analyzing budgets, working closely with artist mangers to submit budgets to the Label that reflect the proposed activity in the most financially efficient way. You will also be responsible for handling any payments associated with the budgets. In this role, you are expected to develop strong relations with artist management due to the volume of communication required on budgets.

This is an extremely fast paced detail-oriented department that requires resourcefulness, poise, a sense of humor, and the ability to work quickly, calmly and accurately under pressure and intense deadlines. Willingness to field emails and calls after hours as well as to work nights and weekends is a requirement. Capitol Music Group is constantly evolving; thus, it is imperative to collaborate cross-functionally to identify artists’ visions and set expectations related to how we can develop mutually beneficial partnerships.

How You’ll CREATE

  • The most crucial functions of this position are having great attention to detail of what production and creative elements in the Touring and TV/Radio world cost and be able to navigate those costs with artist managers.
  • Understanding backline and technical needs that are needed for a performance.
  • Making sure artists have the sufficient funding in their internal budgets.
  • Communicating with management on artists spend and approved costs.
  • Communicating with the Finance Department on the funds needed for tour and artist performances.
  • Collaborating with the Vice President of artist relations of how costs can be saved in budgets prior to retrieving approvals from the Finance Department.
  • Navigating problems with spend for tours and events by being able to find a solution.

  • Ability to fast and effectively cultivate artist satisfaction and make our relationship impactful and successful through promo tours and events.
  • Ability to address executive audiences, demonstrating excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to work late hours in the field during high volume months.
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with artist, artist managements and agents.
  • Interest in a wide variety of music including rock, pop and hip hop.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in music or entertainment.
  • Minimum 2 years of finance and or accounting experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
