Haulix Weekly Update #97: “Just because I don’t care doesn’t mean I don’t understand”

Hello, everyone. Thank you for stopping by our blog. Whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth, we’re happy to have your attention. This is our weekly recap post, which runs every Friday, and in it we talk all things Haulix. Before we get there however, we like to share a song that has been on repeat in our offices this week. With the weekend only a few short hours away, this track will help you celebrate your impending freedom like no other. Enjoy:

As I mentioned above, each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

DEVELOPMENT NEWS:

Work on our impending relaunch continues, but at this point we have no new information to share on the development front. That said, we did complete our first Haulix user guide this week, and we hope to have it available for download beginning in early October. This will be a one-stop guide for press and clients alike that covers all the ins and outs of Haulix. If you have something you want us to include, please don’t hesitate to send us an email.

BLOG NEWS:

We are incredibly proud of this week’s content. I guess as the people behind the blog that should always be true, but some weeks we know we didn’t roll out our absolute best work. That’s not to say it isn’t good, but as any creative person will tell you it’s quite rare to feel satisfied with a project. This week, we’re satisfied with what we created. Haulix Weekly Update #95 – “The lesson is, never try.”

Hello, everyone. Thank you for stopping by our blog. Whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth, we’re happy to have your attention. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

DEVELOPMENT NEWS:

Following a couple weeks filled with updates regarding our forthcoming platform update, this week we have basically nothing to report. Development is ongoing, but there are a lot of tiny details being worked out at the moment that would mean nothing to the average consumer if explained.

That said, we did begin drafting our first-ever Haulix user guide this week, and we hope to have it available for download beginning in early October. This will be a one-stop guide for press and clients alike that covers all the ins and outs of Haulix. If you have something you want us to include, please don’t hesitate to send us an email.

BLOG NEWS:

The biggest news of the week is that we finally scheduled the return of Inside Music. We know many of you have been asking for the podcast to make a comeback, and we are happy to report that day will soon be upon us. We have four great guests lined up, but for the time being their identity will remain a secret.

In case you missed any posts this week, we took it upon ourselves to link every piece of content we ran this week in the space below. Take a few minutes and catch up:

Haulix Weekly Update #89 – “Can’t this town go one day without a riot?”

Hello, everyone. Thank you for carving a little time out of your busy schedule to spend browsing our blog. We have been working incredibly hard to up the ante for all content produced, and in recent days I think we really outdid ourselves. Before we get to all that, however, we want to share with you a song that has been on repeat all week long. Check it out:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

Progress continues on the complete Haulix overhaul we began teasing at the beginning of the year. Most of what we have accomplished thus far involves the backend of the site, which is the reason we haven’t offered many details as to what exactly we have been doing. We like being transparent, but there is a certain amount of necessary magic in what we do that we want to retain. Hopefully you understand.

One thing we did focus on this week that we can talk about here is security. Keeping music secure online is no simple matter, and every week we hear of a new way people in the industry are being targeted by those hoping to leak music. We are doing everything in our power to up our own security measures, but it’s incredibly important you up your own security as well. Google and Facebook allow for a 2-step verification process whenever someone sings into your accounts, and we highly recommend taking advantage of that capability. Also, never use the same password for every login, and make sure you change your passwords at least two or three times a year. We recommend at least once a season, but the more frequent the better.

Blog news:

This blog turned two-years-old earlier this week! Hard to believe, isn’t it? We had no idea what would happen when we launched this page back in 2013, nor could we have anticipated what a vital part of marketing it would become in the years since launch. We still struggle with grammar and spelling from time to time, but overall we like to think this little corner of the net has become something special, and we hope to continue developing our efforts in the years ahead. We cannot thank you enough for your support up to this point, but know in it has meant the world to us.

Wow. We didn’t realize how much content we had shared this week until we compiled this list. We told you we were working to up our output, but that doesn’t really matter unless we maintain (or better yet, improve) the quality of our content. Have we done a good job? Let us know.

That’s all we have this week. Stop in over the weekend for a new job board, then keep an eye out for a slew of new interviews and advice columns starting at the top of next week. Until then, have a great time away from school and/or the office that keeps you prisoner during the week. We’ll talk soon!

Haulix Weekly Update #87 – “Sorry mom, the mob has spoken.”

Hello, everyone. Welcome to our blog. The fast-rising temperatures tell us summer is not far around the corner, and as we look around the office this afternoon it’s clear everyone is excited for the weekend ahead. We don’t want to impose on your plans, but if you need a fresh soundtrack for your life you could do a lot worse than this:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development News:

We have said this before and I will say it again, there is no new development news to report this week. As most of you know, we are currently in the midst of a complete platform makeover, and as such there are many big and small projects being tended to at one time. We have been making advancements. In fact, we have made many each week, but right now we are working on things that behind-the-scenes and we don’t feel like boring you with the details of all that entails. When something client facing is changed, we will let you be the first to know.

Blog News:

Our little blog turns 2 years old this upcoming week! We have a lot of big ideas for what we’ve dubbed (for obvious reasons) “year 3,’ and we’ll be rolling out various new efforts in the months ahead. In fact, this weekend the entire Haulix team met in Minnesota to outline just what the future holds, and I can tell you without a doubt in my mind that what lies on horizon will be far more substantial than what has been shared up to this point. For now, catch up on this week’s content:

All in all, this was a shorter week than most for us, which explain the lack of fresh content. We’ll be back tomorrow with a new job board, followed in the immediate days after by various types of original content. See you then!

Best,

Haulix.

Haulix Weekly Update #83 – “Remember Alf? He’s back…in pog form!”

Hello, everyone. Welcome the our company blog. The first weekend of May 2015 is upon us, and I know everyone on staff is excited to see Avengers: Age Of Ultron just as soon as we can sneak away from our desks. Until that time, we will be jamming this song, which we recommend you make the soundtrack to your weekend fun:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

DEVELOPMENT NEWS:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this week we do not have any substantial development news to share. Many of you know we are planning to relaunch Haulix later this year with a fully redesigned platform, but that is project is still many months away from completion. As big updates are made public we will fill you in on all the details, but to start we are making dozens of minor changes that don’t really warrant explanation. Don’t worry though, as I am sure we will have more to share soon.

BLOG NEWS:

If you were waiting for a recap last week and never saw one, we owe you an apology. Our time at Launch Music Conference was so incredibly hectic that we actually forgot to post a proper recap of all recent happenings around Haulix HQ. Since returning we have not slowed our efforts to better the quality of our content one bit, but we did remember to make room in our schedule to write this post.

As for new events, the podcast has been incredibly busy as of late. We have released three hour-long episodes in the last two weeks, as well as our first mini episode, which has a completely different theme than normal shows. You can find links to two of those episodes, as well as everything else we recently posted, below:

Haulix Weekly Update #77 – “I Bent My Wookie”

Hey there, everyone! The weekend is only hours away at this point, and truth be told we are pretty excited to escape the office for a few days. This winter has been long and it has definitely taken a toll on attitudes across the country. We need the weekend to decompress, relax, and reconnect with the art that makes us feel alive. If we may suggest something new, we highly encourage you to give this new Taking Back Sunday song a bit of your time:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

There are no new development updates this week, but our team is working hard to have some new platform releases out by next Friday. You see, following our recent client survey we essentially scrapped all current plans and focused on matching the needs, desires, and wants of those who have supported us. Our clients mean the world to us, and when we poured over their responses it became clear there is more we could be doing to improve the tools we already have in place. So, with that in mind, we have pushed new tools a few months while we make the current platform offerings as great as they can possibly be, and we’ll be sharing new advancements as they are released right here on this blog. You can also follow us on Twitter for additional updates.

Speaking of the blog, you may have noticed a huge upswing in the amount of content posted in recent days. I believe we posted at least twice every single day this week, including today, and I must tell you it feels good to be able to create at that rate. We owe a lot to our guest contributors, obviously, but it’s really starting to feel like we are reaching a new level in terms of content frequency and quality.

Haulix Weekly Update #64 – Getting Back On Track

Hello, everyone! We are thrilled to learn that you were able to find time amidst your busy schedule to spend a few minutes with us. It’s Friday, which means it’s time to review everything we have accomplished in recent days. Before we get to that however, I wanted to take a few moments to introduce you to a fast-rising rock band we cannot get enough of around HQ. Ladies and gents, please take a listen to New Years Day:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

We’ve been promising new product releases for the last two weeks, and it make us immensely happy to report we released not one, but two new updates to share. Neither one is necessary a reinvention of our system, but we do believe these changes will simplify our clients’ experience. Here’s a quick rundown:

Bandwidth Usage Alerts

The system will now send you an email alert when you hit 80% bandwidth usage for the month.

Bandwidth Usage Graphs

The bottom of your dashboard has a new function, “Show Promo Bandwidth”. Click the link and yellow bars will appear showing how much bandwidth has been used per the lifetime of each promo measured in gigabytes.

Plan Change Alerts

Anytime you upgrade, downgrade, hibernate or cancel your account, you will now receive a confirmation email.

We are tentatively planning a few additional updates before the end of 2014, but at this point we’re keeping all details associated with those efforts at a bare minimum.

On the blog end of things, you may have noticed a slight upswing in the amount of content created compared to a week ago. Our hearts are still very heavy from the loss of our close friend Justin, but life goes on and we are doing our best to push forward. The content created this week was largely dependent on help from a number of influential music writers, but we contributed quite a bit as well.

In case you missed anything in recent days, here’s a rundown of our newest content:

That’s all we have this week. Again, thank you so much for finding time to spend a little time with us. We love how this site has evolved up to this point, and to be perfectly honest we very anxious to see what happens next. For now, be sure to have a safe and fun weekend. We’ll be back on Sunday with a new Job Board.

Haulix Weekly Update #25 – Mobile, Email, and More!

Hello and welcome to the final work week Haulix blog update. We recently moved to a seven-day posting style, but we still reserve Friday afternoons as a time for company updates and content reflection. This edition is particularly lengthy, so settle in now and prepare to be wowed. If you have any questions regarding the content of this blog, or if you would like to learn more information about the services offered by Haulix, please email james@haulix.com and share your thoughts. We can also be found on Twitter and Facebook.

Starting off with the topic that may very well have inspired you to click the link that brought you to this post, we are thrilled to announce our mobile platform is finally ready for launch. Our plan is to release the update later this evening, which will immediately allow journalists worldwide to stream promos on their smartphones for the first time ever. Keep an eye on our Twitter for updates on the official launch, and stay tuned for a complete walkthrough to appear on the blog later this weekend.

Mobile is not the only news we have to discuss this week. In addition to rolling out that long-awaited feature, we recently pushed out a new email engine. This is probably the biggest improvement we’ve made to the system in years. In the past, 10,000 email invitations would of taken 3-4 hours to go out – sending out small batches every 4 minutes or so. Now, we can do 10,000 in about 60 seconds! Isn’t technology wild?

On the blog end of things, the past seven days have been a whirlwind of interviews and preparation. We introduced a brand new column (How To Kill Your Band), and made progress on several upcoming features that will be revealed in the weeks ahead. We also made this:

(*Cough Cough* It’s a clue *Cough Cough*)

In case you missed anything on the blog this week, a link to every post since Saturday can be found below. We’ll be back tomorrow with an in-depth interview you will not want to miss.

Have a great weekend, everyone.
