Haulix Weekly Update #89 – “Can’t this town go one day without a riot?”

Hello, everyone. Thank you for carving a little time out of your busy schedule to spend browsing our blog. We have been working incredibly hard to up the ante for all content produced, and in recent days I think we really outdid ourselves. Before we get to all that, however, we want to share with you a song that has been on repeat all week long. Check it out:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

Progress continues on the complete Haulix overhaul we began teasing at the beginning of the year. Most of what we have accomplished thus far involves the backend of the site, which is the reason we haven’t offered many details as to what exactly we have been doing. We like being transparent, but there is a certain amount of necessary magic in what we do that we want to retain. Hopefully you understand.

One thing we did focus on this week that we can talk about here is security. Keeping music secure online is no simple matter, and every week we hear of a new way people in the industry are being targeted by those hoping to leak music. We are doing everything in our power to up our own security measures, but it’s incredibly important you up your own security as well. Google and Facebook allow for a 2-step verification process whenever someone sings into your accounts, and we highly recommend taking advantage of that capability. Also, never use the same password for every login, and make sure you change your passwords at least two or three times a year. We recommend at least once a season, but the more frequent the better.

Blog news:

This blog turned two-years-old earlier this week! Hard to believe, isn’t it? We had no idea what would happen when we launched this page back in 2013, nor could we have anticipated what a vital part of marketing it would become in the years since launch. We still struggle with grammar and spelling from time to time, but overall we like to think this little corner of the net has become something special, and we hope to continue developing our efforts in the years ahead. We cannot thank you enough for your support up to this point, but know in it has meant the world to us.

Wow. We didn’t realize how much content we had shared this week until we compiled this list. We told you we were working to up our output, but that doesn’t really matter unless we maintain (or better yet, improve) the quality of our content. Have we done a good job? Let us know.

That’s all we have this week. Stop in over the weekend for a new job board, then keep an eye out for a slew of new interviews and advice columns starting at the top of next week. Until then, have a great time away from school and/or the office that keeps you prisoner during the week. We’ll talk soon!

Best,

Haulix Weekly Update #57: The Temperature Is Dropping Like Bass In A Nu-Metal Song

Fall has officially gripped New England, and as far as I can tell the temperature will not be climbing again for quite some time. I don’t know about you, but for me it’s always the fall and winter when my love for heavy music is at its peak, and already this season I’ve stumbled across several promising young acts with talent to spare. We don’t have time to highlight everyone here on the blog, but you should definitely make time to discover the creative minds behind Vanities:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

The past seven days at Haulix HQ have been extremely busy. Our development team has been inching closer to completing our redesigned promo creation screens, and to be perfectly honest we are pretty excited to show you what we have in store. I asked HQ if we could share a few images, but right now we are going to keep everything under wraps until we are absolutely sure everything looks and works the way we planned. Next week there may be more to share on the development front, but right now it’s all too secretive to warrant further blog discussion.

The blog has been keeping busy as well, scheduling and conducting interviews every single day of the past week. We ran two new episode of the podcast, 3 advice columns, and one killer Artist Spotlight feature that helped us further expand our punk-related offerings. You can view a list of links directing you our recent content below:

Next week on the blog we have a slew of Blogger Spotlights to share. The podcast guest will be Chris Farren of Fake Problems.

That’s all we have this week. Read the links above and let us know how we can further assist you as you continue to navigate the music business.

Haulix Weekly Update #46 – 2 Big Announcements!

“When there’s no more room in hell, the dead will walk the Earth. When there’s no more time on the clock, the workers will run free. It’s Friday. Be free.” – Anonymous

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

THIS WEEK HAS BEEN INSANE! We have a lot to cover, so go ahead and strap yourself in. We’re about to dive deep into the world of Haulix HQ.

First up, on Tuesday we were finally able to release our long-awaiting first promotional video. This fully animated clip, which can be viewed below, explains who we are and what we do to help press and record labels alike in less than 2 minutes. We have already placed the video on our official website and will continue promoting it through various channels in the weeks ahead. Check it out and let us know your thoughts:

After the video was live and circulating around the web we turned our full attention to the second big reveal of the week: The Haulix Profile System.

Yes, you read that right. After months of requests from we have launched a new profile system that not only allows members of the press to see what labels have them listed as a contact, but it also gives them the power to control what email addresses they are contacted at and who can contact them. When a member of the press changes their information that data is then updated on the contact page for every label that has that person listed as a contact.

To access the Profile screen, you must first access a Haulix promo. Once on that page, click the ‘Promos’ button at the top of the screen.

Next, enter your 4-digit code. If you do not have one, or if you think you may have forgotten yours, click the help button located below ‘Submit’ and you will be sent instructions on how to reset this part of your Haulix experience.

On the ‘Promos’ screen, click the ‘Profile’ button in the top left corner of the page. There may be red lettering that says ‘NEW’ next to the button.

Welcome to the ‘Profile’ page! Here you can reset your 4-digit passcode, verify alternate emails, and view a complete list of every label that has named you as a contact. All verifications require email confirmation, but those confirmation emails are sent immediately after each request is made. Unsubscribing, however, is immediate. [Emails omitted for privacy]

We will feature a more in depth run down of this feature in the days ahead. For now, click around and become acquainted with our latest tool. If you have any question, just email james@haulix.com and we’ll do our best to assist you.

OKAY – onto the blog.

It seems a little silly to talk about the blog at length after every thing we discussed above, but it has been a pretty big weak for this little site as well. We launched our first-ever podcast on Monday, and in the days that followed featured 2 one-of-a-kind artist interviews that we are continuing to receive positive feedback for, not to mention the Advice column that also ran this week. You can view a full list of all our content, or at least the pieces that ran this week, below:

Haulix Weekly Update #38 – “Lana Del Rey Is The Soundtrack To Our Day”

Hello, everyone. If you are reading this post the day it goes live then you are no doubt trying your hardest to look busy while slacking off in the final hours before the weekend arrives. That’s fine with us, but if you get caught just don’t go pointing the finger in our direction. Should you get fired however, we do have a job board ready and waiting to help you find a new career in music.

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you. If you have any questions about the content of this post, or if you are interested in learning more about the secure music distribution services offered by Haulix, please email james@haulix.com and share your thoughts. We can also be found on Twitter and Facebook.

This week’s biggest announcement is really only a pre-cursor to what we hope will be a much larger unveiling in the near future. As many of you already know, we have spent the past several weeks prepping a new tool that will automate the process of issuing DMCA Takedown Notices to blogs and other sites illegally sharing music serviced through Haulix. This week we completed the initial setup stages and we will soon commence testing. As soon as we make sure everything is fully functional we’ll roll the completed product out to you, our clients.

On the blog end of things, we first want to give a special thanks to everyone who reached out to editor James and asked about his health. He is not quite back to normal, but definitely on his way to being his typical overworked self in no time at all. He worked on over a dozen new interviews this week, as well as several new features. The biggest of those, our upcoming ‘Ask A Lawyer’ segment, will debut at the beginning of June.

If you missed any post this week then you should probably take a few minutes and catch up with our content using the links below. We are usually pretty proud of the work we do, but the past few days have felt a little extra special. Click around and see if you agree:

That is all we have for this afternoon. We will return tomorrow with an all-new Journalism Tips segment, so please check our Twitter for update. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Haulix Weekly Update #35 – Batman Has Nothing on Trapman

Good afternoon, everyone. If you are reading this the day it goes live then you’re probably also joining us on the bandwagon of people counting down the final minutes before the holiday weekend. We don’t have any extra days off, of course, but Easter does give us an excuse to spend time with those we care about and that is reason enough to celebrate in our book.

Reminder: We will be performing general patch updates in all of our servers this Saturday, April 19, from 5PM to 9PM (GMT). There will be some minor downtime during the process and services will be unavailable.

This week was a pretty crazy one at Haulix HQ. We have been preparing to launch our automated takedown service, but still need a few weeks before we will be ready to share details about the release and its ability to help us further protect your media. We should be ready in time for summer, but until then we must keep our lips sealed.

The blog has had a crazy week all its own. We ran more posts than usual in recent days, and a number of the features were embraced and shared by people who had never previously engaged with our brand. It’s always exciting to see your creation take off, but there is something extra special involved when you know how much that creation will help others down the line.

Haulix Weekly Update #22 – Just a little bit longer…

Hello, everyone! If you’re reading this it means you survived another week at the office and are now counting down the hours until the weekend arrives. Go on, pat yourself on the back. Another week is a little under one-hundred hours away, but for now we’ll reflect on everything we’ve accomplished in recent days and bask in the knowledge we can soon relax.

If you have any questions regarding the content of this blog, or if you would like to learn more information about the services offered by Haulix, please email james@haulix.com and share your thoughts. We can also be found on Twitter and Facebook.

The past seven days have been busy at Haulix HQ. We know many of you are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first-ever mobile platform, but unfortunately you are going to have to wait just a bit longer. Our developers are in the final stages of testing, so we will hopefully have more information on a potential release in time for next week’s update.

On the blog side of things, we could not be more excited for the months ahead. Aside from SXSW, which we are impatiently awaiting, we have some awesome content in the works that we cannot wait to share with all of you. The features you have grown to love will remain, of course, but they will soon be joined by a slew of new ideas we believe will help further our efforts to inform the next generation of music industry professionals. You can find a series of links highlighting the content from this past week below:

Blogger Spotlight: Alexa Rahmanparast (Mind Equals Blown)
Publicity Spotlight: Dan Bogosian (Shore Fire Media)
Artist Spotlight: Eric Morgan (Bornstellar / A Hero A Fake)
Blogger Spotlight: Chris Lantinen (Modern Vinyl)

Our ‘Advice’ series will return next week.

That’s all the updates and content we have to share right now. Have a safe and fun weekend, everyone!

Haulix Weekly Update #12 – Updates Are On The Way

Hello, everyone! The week is coming to a close, which means it’s time once again to look at everything we’ve accomplished in the last five days.

The holiday season is fast-approaching, and while we cannot personally send everyone a gift we do plan to unveil a few new updates in the weeks ahead. We admit they’re not exactly gifts, but once you see everything we have planned we think it’ll put a smile on your face. We should be able to share more information on on all of this in next week’s update.

Looking to the blog, I personally think this was one of our best weeks in recent memory. Not only did we tell the story of two very fast-industry industry professionals, but our Advice series touched on areas of artist’s careers previously unmentioned on this site. You can find links to everything released this week below:

That basically wraps it up for our efforts this week. We promise to have more updates on product developments in next week’s update, so please be sure to check back! For now, have a great and safe weekend. If you have any questions, email james@haulix.com or reach out over Twitter.

Haulix Weekly Update #5: Here Comes Mobile

Hello, everyone! Another work week has come and gone, leaving us with a slew of new updates to share with all of you. I expect this update to be a bit longer than usual, so let’s cut right to the chase…

HAULIX MOBILE IS COMING! Yes, you read that right. After reading requests from every corner of the music industry we finally started developing a mobile version of Haulix earlier this week in order to offer journalists better access to promotional materials on the go. This process will take some time to complete, but seeing as this is one of our most requested updates I figured a little news was better than nothing.

Continuing with product updates, we just launched a new background process that scans your contact lists and searches for invalid email accounts. If it finds invalid accounts, it lists them in a group on your Contacts screen highlighted in bold red. It is then up to you to fix the email addresses or remove them from your list. We’re also in the process of putting the finishing touches on an Email Activity screen that will show you the status of your email invitations (eg. Opens, Unsubscribes, Bounces, Deliveries). Expect more details in the coming weeks.

As far as the blog is concerned the past few days have been like any other. Each day a new feature is posted, and each afternoon we do whatever we are able to promote said efforts. In case you missed a post, here’s a rundown of every feature we ran this week:

We’ll be back on Monday with another tale from insider the music industry. Until then, stay safe and cause as much trouble as humanly possible without getting arrested. Life is for the living.
