Haulix Weekly Update #83 – “Remember Alf? He’s back…in pog form!”

Hello, everyone. Welcome the our company blog. The first weekend of May 2015 is upon us, and I know everyone on staff is excited to see Avengers: Age Of Ultron just as soon as we can sneak away from our desks. Until that time, we will be jamming this song, which we recommend you make the soundtrack to your weekend fun:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

DEVELOPMENT NEWS:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this week we do not have any substantial development news to share. Many of you know we are planning to relaunch Haulix later this year with a fully redesigned platform, but that is project is still many months away from completion. As big updates are made public we will fill you in on all the details, but to start we are making dozens of minor changes that don’t really warrant explanation. Don’t worry though, as I am sure we will have more to share soon.

BLOG NEWS:

If you were waiting for a recap last week and never saw one, we owe you an apology. Our time at Launch Music Conference was so incredibly hectic that we actually forgot to post a proper recap of all recent happenings around Haulix HQ. Since returning we have not slowed our efforts to better the quality of our content one bit, but we did remember to make room in our schedule to write this post.

As for new events, the podcast has been incredibly busy as of late. We have released three hour-long episodes in the last two weeks, as well as our first mini episode, which has a completely different theme than normal shows. You can find links to two of those episodes, as well as everything else we recently posted, below:

Haulix Weekly Update #81 – “Isn’t it nice we hate the same things?”

Hello, everyone! Thank you for carving a little time out of your schedule to visit our blog. A lot of things have been changing around here as of late, and we are beyond excited to begin telling you about it in the paragraphs below. Before we get there, why not take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with this killer single from the up and coming artist known as Boogie:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development updates:

Last week we told you that we had made plans to completely rebuild the Haulix platform based on the suggestions made by press and clients over the last year. We don’t have any big reveals to share this week, but we thought you might like to know that work on that effort has officially begun. As the year carries on you will see updates begins to roll in more and more frequently. We can’t share what will change just yet, but we believe when our work is complete the entire Haulix experience will be improved.

Blog updates:

If you looked at the web address above you might have noticed that our little blog now has a url all its own. No longer will we be known as ‘blog.haulix.com’ because now we are HaulixDaily.com, your one-stop destination for the latest music industry insight and advice.

In the days and weeks ahead you will notice additional changes begin to take place around the site as we prepare to unveil what we’re currently calling our ‘Year 3′ plan. Our tentative completion date is June 3, the three-year anniversary of this site being born, but if we finish early we certainly won’t complain!

None of these plans will interfere with our normal content creation efforts, of course, though you may see more guests posts as time goes on. If you missed anything we ran this week, please use the links below to catch up before a new week of coverage begins:

Haulix Weekly Update #79 – “My eyes! The goggles do nothing!”

Hello, everyone. Thank you for making time in your busy schedule to spend a few minutes browsing our blog. The last few days have passed us by like no other, and we are all more than ready to embrace the relaxing vibes of the weekend. Before we get there however, we need to recap everything we have accomplished. We also need to share this song, which may be the perfect soundtrack to your weekend:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

THE NEW HAULIX

We have started construction on the next version of Haulix. The new version will include many of your suggestions that we have collected over the last couple of years and will work in mobile devices.

BLOG UPDATES

On the blog end of things, our site moved a bit slower this week in comparison to those prior due largely to my (James) trip back from SXSW. I spent 15 hours in an airport on Monday, and that completely ruined my work schedule for the rest of the week. I didn’t even touch down in Boston until 3AM Tuesday, and then I spent the rest of the day asleep. The content we did run turned out great, at least in my opinion, and I hope you can find time to consume every last word:

Haulix Weekly Recap #73 – “Purple Is A Fruit”

It’s that time of week once again! Just as you were starting to feel like the office would consume your entire world, the weekend has arrived with the hope of freedom and relaxation. We’re not quite there yet, but in a few hours we will all be free to kick back and see what kind of trouble we can start. Before we get there, however, I wanted to provide you with the perfect soundtrack for whatever you plan to do in the next few days:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

You may be tired of hearing this bit by now, but for the third consecutive week there are essentially no development updates to share. This will change next week, or so I am told, but right now our developers are hard at work on some major advancements that we plan to reveal a bit later in 2015. The Haulix you have come to know and trust will always be here, but we’re planning to expand the services we offer in a way that is both exciting and-at least in our opinion-very much needed in today’s industry. More on that soon.

On the blog end of things, I believe this week was our strongest so far in 2015. We featured some killer content, ran an incredibly podcast, and laid the foundation for more than two dozen new articles that will find their way onto the blog sometime in the months ahead. This required a lot of hard work and long hours, but the reactions from you make every second worth it. If you missed anything, you can find links to our all recent posts below:

Haulix Weekly Recap #72 – “Cows Don’t Look Like Cows On Film.”

Hey there, everyone. It’s the end of yet another work week, which means it is time once more to recap our recent activity and tease what the future might hold. Before we get there, however, I wanted to introduced you to Thugli. They’re an incredibly production outfit, and earlier today they shared a Drake remix that is destined to be a highlight of your weekend. Check it out:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Kicking things off with development updates, I have to be honest and say there is nothing major to report this week. Our dev team has patched a few minor bugs in recent days, but otherwise they have been hard at work on some longterm projects I’ve been asked not to discuss just yet. I will say, however, that we are evolving. The Haulix you have known and loved will always be here, but we’re currently working on rounding out our growing arsenal of anti-piracy tools in hopes of redefining digital security in 2015. I’ll tell you more when I’m allowed to do so.

Before we get to the blog updates, there is one company-wide promotion I need to tell you about. This April, just after the cold from winter has left your bones, the Haulix team will be hosting a panel at LAUNCH music conference in Lancaster, PA. There will be a ton of great guests, including nightly performances by some of the biggest bands in music today. It’s our first real conference appearance in over half a decade of existence, and we would be thrilled if you could make it out to join us. Here is a recently released poster revealing the first round of conference talent:

On the blog end of things, this week was a wild one. We ran this incredible podcast with Clinton Sparks, which over a 1000 of you already listened to (Thanks!), and I think the longform content really held its own. I also put five reviews in the can for future blog updates, but for the sake of promotion I’m not going to reveal their identities at this time. Sorry!

Haulix Weekly Update #71 – “Sit perfectly still. Only I may dance.”

Hey there, folks. Welcome to the end of the work week. It has been bitter cold outside HQ walls, so we’ve been working long hours to avoid facing the dropping temperatures, but even our team is ready to go home and relax. Before we get there, however, we need to reflect on the week we’re leaving behind. We also need to listen to music, like this recent hit from Blood And Ink Records artist Household:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

To start us off, I want to first say that we are hard at work on new development updates. I know it has been a few weeks since our last release, but we have used that time to reevaluate our platform and discuss what changes should be made in the months ahead. We also listened to you, our clients and friends, and the requests you have shared. All of this was poured over by our entire team and, in the end, several goals were set for 2015. We’ll have more on all that soon.

On the blog end of things, we picked up the pace just a bit this week by adding an additional feature highlighting the efforts of Semplice Lessons. We have been churning out six articles a week every week for about a year, so now it’s time to expand our efforts once more. If you missed anything in recent days, here’s a quick recap of our best new content:

Haulix Weekly Update #70 – “In This House, We Obey The Laws Of Thermodynamics!”

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the very first Haulix company update of 2015. We have had a bit of weird week with the holidays and all, but it will still quite productive around HQ. Before we get to all that however, we typically start these things with some music. Take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with the immense talent of Eden The Cat:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

This week has been a relatively quiet one as far as developments are concerned, but we did discuss a number of big ideas for the year ahead we think you will love. We have a lot of goals for 2015, and with your help we know we can craft a better, more versatile platform than anyone else is able to provide. We should have a few updates soon, but this week we simply don’t have anything far enough long to discuss it. Sorry.

On the blog end of things, we did not let the many parties we weren’t invited to on New Year’s Eve distract us from creating awesome content. We did not run an article a day, but we came close, and we’re incredibly proud of every piece of content we produced. In case you missed anything, here’s a quick review:

From The Bottom Of Our Hearts, Thank You.

Hello, everyone! This is the final post of 2014 for us, and it also happens to be our first article to go live after passing the 500 post mark. To know you’re still here and engaged with what we have to say is the greatest gift we could hope to receive, and we hope the content we have planned for the year ahead gives you even more reason to stick around. Together we are working towards a more productive and communal music industry, which is something this crazy business desperately needs. That would not be possible without your readership and constant participation in our various discussions. For that, and everything else you do, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

2014 was a wild and crazy year for Haulix. Without listing everything we accomplished, we did launch our mobile platform, unveil new watermarking technology, release an automated takedown tool, and create a profile system for the thousands of press people who engage with our platform on a daily basis. On top of this, we released numerous minor updates to our service, including tweaks to promo creation and design, as well as our completely revamped company blog.

Speaking of this site, we ran over 250 article this year, including more than 100 interviews with various music industry professionals. We also launched our podcast, Inside Music, and we collaborated with a number of influential writing veterans. We hope to continue all of this throughout 2015, but we’re going to add a few new features along the way as well. Again, that wouldn’t be happening without your support. Heck, I (James Shotwell) don’t even know if I would still have this awesome job that allows me to write these posts and make a living doing so if it were not for the thousands of you who stop by every month. Your continued support literally puts food on our tables, and we take great pride in having such a close, transparent relationship with consumers.

You probably have a lot of things to do before the new year arrives, including partying like it’s 1999 even though that year came and went more than a decade ago, but it was very important to us that this letter be drafted and shared. As a business that doesn’t exactly face the general public, we thrive on word of mouth, and this year we received an outpouring of support that humbled us a great deal. Again, for that, as well as everything else you do to be a part of this movement we’ve started, thank you.

2015 is going to be insane. We’re going to give you our best and we hope you stick around to see what that entails. Have a wonderful new year celebration.

Best,

Haulix

Haulix Weekly Update #69: “Television! Teacher! Mother! Secret Lover.”

Good afternoon, everyone! We hope the holidays have treated you well so far, and that wherever you find yourself now is somewhere both fun and relaxing. The music business never stops, but this time of year it does tend to slow just long enough for everyone to catch their breath. We do not advise taking this time for granted, and have prepared the following soundtrack to help you enjoy your remaining free time:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

This week has been a relatively quiet one as far as developments are concerned, but we did roll out the following updates at the tail end of last week:

Clients have always been able to send multiple promos in a single email. If it’s a one-promo email and the contact clicks the link, it goes directly to the promo screen — no passcode required. From there, if they click on Promos, it prompts for the passcode. If it’s a multi-promo email and they click the main link on the bottom of the email, it USED TO prompt for the passcode. We updated the system so that it passes them through — no passcode. They go to a screen that has all of the promos from the email. They can then click the one they are interested in, thus streamlining the process for everyone involved.

While our development side laid low this week, our blogging efforts continued as if it were any other work week. We released a new podcast, a great interview with one of our favorite clients, and an in-depth editorial on overcoming traffic slowdowns associated with the holidays that we take a lot of pride in. If you missed any of this, or the other content we recently ran, use this list of links below to catch up:

That’s all we have for this week. We have interviews with Tantric and The Banner going live early next week, as well as a great photo feature that will help us say farewell to 2014 in style. Have a safe and adventurous weekend.

Haulix Weekly Update #68 – “My Pudding Is Trapped Forever!”

Hello, internet friends! The end of the work week has arrived once more, and this time it is made extra special by the fact it is also the day many begin their long-awaited holiday breaks. The Haulix team will be working nearly every day ahead, but we’re thrilled those of you who put in long hours all year long are finally able to get some rest. If you work a job that offers no break at all, maybe this song from San Diego’s Sledding With Tigers will inspire a new year’s resolution or two:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

We have development updates! We have development updates!

Just like Santa scurrying down your chimney, Haulix-claus is here with a special development update that impact clients and press alike.

On the blog end of things, we like to think the end of December has quickly become one of the most exciting times of the entire year. While many sites are slowing their content creation efforts, our team is working hard to bring you the best advice and most in-depth interviews available anywhere online. We’re not taking Christmas week off, and you can bet all the sass found online we’re not taking a break for the new year. We’re here for you, and as long as you’re ready be inform we’ll be ready to teach.
