Haulix Weekly Update #74 – “I Glued My Head To My Shoulder.”

Can you feel it in the air? The weekend is fast-approaching, or at least it was when we first sat down to write this, and in no time at all we will feel the freedom that comes with sleeping in on Saturday morning. Before we get there however, there are a few things we need to discuss. First and foremost, have you heard of the band Capsize?

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

WE FINALLY HAVE A NEW DEVELOPMENT UPDATE TO SHARE!

Haulix promos have traditionally had a scoring mechanism and feedback box up top in the upper right corner. When a press contact submits a score or a review link, customers can privately view that information in their Haulix dashboard.

We now give you the ability to enable or disable that feedback on a per promo basis.

Promo feedback can easily be turned on or off when editing the promo. Your changes are instant; no need to re-send email invitations.

If enabled, the promo view will show a “Submit Feedback” link. When clicked, it will open a window where the contact can submit a score, comment or review link. The mobile view will hide or show the feedback interface as well based on the promo’s settings.

If you have any questions, please contact us at support@haulix.zendesk.com.

As far as the blog is concerned, our content production efforts hit an all-time high in recent days. We’ve run more articles this week than in any prior seven-day period and it is our hope that you enjoyed the changed. We want to continue sharing more and more content, but only if we feel such material can be created without jeopardizing the high standard of quality we expect with each post.

In case you missed anything in recent days, here’s a quick rundown of all our recent posts:

Haulix Weekly Update #69: “Television! Teacher! Mother! Secret Lover.”

Good afternoon, everyone! We hope the holidays have treated you well so far, and that wherever you find yourself now is somewhere both fun and relaxing. The music business never stops, but this time of year it does tend to slow just long enough for everyone to catch their breath. We do not advise taking this time for granted, and have prepared the following soundtrack to help you enjoy your remaining free time:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

This week has been a relatively quiet one as far as developments are concerned, but we did roll out the following updates at the tail end of last week:

Clients have always been able to send multiple promos in a single email. If it’s a one-promo email and the contact clicks the link, it goes directly to the promo screen — no passcode required. From there, if they click on Promos, it prompts for the passcode. If it’s a multi-promo email and they click the main link on the bottom of the email, it USED TO prompt for the passcode. We updated the system so that it passes them through — no passcode. They go to a screen that has all of the promos from the email. They can then click the one they are interested in, thus streamlining the process for everyone involved.

While our development side laid low this week, our blogging efforts continued as if it were any other work week. We released a new podcast, a great interview with one of our favorite clients, and an in-depth editorial on overcoming traffic slowdowns associated with the holidays that we take a lot of pride in. If you missed any of this, or the other content we recently ran, use this list of links below to catch up:

Journalism Tips: Overcoming The Holiday Slowdown Without Going Insane

That’s all we have for this week. We have interviews with Tantric and The Banner going live early next week, as well as a great photo feature that will help us say farewell to 2014 in style. Have a safe and adventurous weekend.

Best,

Haulix

Haulix Weekly Update #61: Happy Halloween! Here’s Your Treat…

This may be the only Haulix company update of the year that falls on a holiday, and to be honest we haven’t the slightest clue how to make the most of the occasion. We do love Halloween however, and we love music that sounds inspired by the holiday even more. Take Harley Poe, for example. Hailing from Indiana with music that could double as the song version of your favorite horror film, this folk punk outfit offer unique thrills and chills that make it possible to enjoy Halloween all year long. Check it out:

WE HAVE A DEV UPDATE!

Last week was the first in over a month to not end with some kind of major development update, and it looks like that will remain the case for the foreseeable future as our team of creative minds continue to churn out releases that improve the Haulix experience for clients and members of the media alike. This week, our development team released a Promo Grouping feature that allows for clients to better organize and assign their team efforts. Here’s how it works:

Continuing our recent string of platform updates, we are pleased to announce Promo Grouping — a feature that will simplify your organizational efforts. This tool is one we have received many requests for, and we think you’ll find implementing it to be incredibly easy:

Sign into your Haulix account. On the Dashboard you will see your current promos listed at the bottom of the screen.

To begin creating Groups, first click the ‘Promos’ tab at the top of the page. When the new page loads, click the ‘Groups’ button at the top of the page. A new window will open and ask you to name your new group. Enter the desired title and click ‘Create.’ Another window will ask you to confirm the information. Agree and your new group will appear on the left rail of the ‘Promos’ page.

Once the Groups have been created, it’s time to organize your promos. Using the list of promos on the left rail, drag and drop each promo name underneath the group you want it assigned to. If you would like to organize the order in which the groups appear, use the arrows next to each group title to move them up or down the list.

You can also assign your new promos to a group as they are made. When editing a promo, click the ‘Groups’ dropdown list on the promo screen and select the group you wish to assign that particular promo to:

The Groups created on these pages and the promo order set in place will immediately be reflected on your Dashboard and Invitation screens.

Deleting a group is as easy as creating one. Return to the ‘Promos’ screen, click ‘Groups,’ then click the red ‘X’ next to the Group you wish to remove. Deleting a group will not delete the promos contained within that group.

Please note: Promo groups cannot be added or deleted by Sub-Administrators. Only Master Account holders are able to create and organize promo groups.

On the promotional side of things, our very own James Shotwell appeared on the 100 Words or Less Podcast. He spoke of Haulix and our plans for the future, as well as his own life experiences. Click here to check it out.

Our own podcast, Inside Music, is taking the week off. We will be back next Thursday with a brand new episode and plan to continue delivering new content every week in November. Fun fact: James turns 27 this month. He’s the youngest on our staff, but soon we won’t even be able to call him young! Where does the time go.

Haulix Weekly Update #55: Fall Is On The Way

For the last couple weeks we have started this recap feature by sharing whatever record was spinning around the Haulix offices the past week. It’s inadvertently becomes something we look forward to sharing with our readers, causing many internal discussions about which clips and tracks should make the cut. Does it need to be this complicated? Not really. We just want to share great music while we are able and go from there. So, this week, please take a moment and meet become acquainted with The Last Bison:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

We hate to keep you in suspense, but the biggest announcement of this week is actually something we have to keep secret for the time being. We can say that we are trying to revolutionize our already industry leading tools in ways that will make promo creation easier than ever for clients, but that’s all we can reveal right now. The rest will be rolling out soon, and you’ll find out about it first right here on this very blog. Maybe next week.

We are able to discuss our blog, and it’s been one hell of a week on that front. The features this week were huge, both in size and reaction from you, the reader(s). We appreciate your continued support and hope to continue bringing you the best industry interviews and advice columns around. You can find a list of the week’s content below:

Journalism Tips #27: A Beginner’s Guide To Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Goin’ Under: A Conversation With Black Trip’s Joseph Tholl

Music Industry Job Board (9/7/14)

We finally submitted our podcast to iTunes, and even though we missed the release of episode 4 we took huge steps to improve the future of the show. A new episode will be out tomorrow, and we might even release a bonus episode sometime early next week.

That’s all we have for now. We’ll be back tomorrow with a new podcast and a feature for bands no touring artist will want to miss.

Thanks for everything.

Haulix.

Haulix Weekly Update #49: It’s A Jimmy Buffett Kind Of Day (Whatever That Means)

I was never that into the music of Jimmy Buffett, but my father spins his music every single week and I imagine he will continue to do so for the remainder of his life. When I was younger, I never understand what he heard that I could not. Now that I am older, however, I understand that Jimmy Buffet is the musical equivalent to Friday afternoon around 4:55 PM. He’s the kickoff to good times, and a sign that the weekend – not to mention all the freedom it holds – has arrived. Today, for my dad, I’m spinning Jimmy while writing this post. Feel free to join me:

Each and every Friday we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

From a development point of view, the final week of July was spent refining our already proven platform and planning for the future. We cannot share any details regarding those discussions just yet, but we can tell you about something very important to us….

About a month ago we launched a new feature known as ‘Piracy Takedown.’ This service, which you can read about at length in this earlier blog post, crawls the web for pirated music and automatically issues DMCA Takedown notices on behalf of our clients. We’ve had nearly 100 records put through this system in the last month and the response has been overwhelming. If we were making a difference in the war against piracy before this feature, we’re not able to inflict serious damage against the unwanted spread of copyrighted materials online. The first album you upload is free, so take time this weekend and see what kind of difference we can make for you.

On the blog end of things, this week passed quicker than we can possibly begin to describe. We dug in deep on Monday, lining up a slew of new features, then spent the days that followed researching, crafting, and refining content that will run in the coming weeks. For now, you can catch up on everything you missed using the links below:
