Five Benefits of Campaign Scheduling

Haulix now allows users to schedule their promotional campaigns up to two weeks in advance, and there are many reasons to celebrate.

Promotional campaigns are the heart and soul of album rollouts. Everything, from the first single, to the final review, relies on good emails reaching the right tastemakers at the right moment in time. A poorly planned campaign can result in coverage opportunities being rushed or missed altogether, and in a market flooded with talent, there is no good reason to risk such a fate falling on your next release.

Haulix is built for promotion. Our customizable album promo screens enable artists and labels at every level to reinforce their brand and aesthetic while securing sharing their latest releases with tastemakers. In April, we took these efforts further by adding a scheduling feature that allows users to schedule their promotional campaigns up to two weeks in advance. You can try the system for yourself by signing up today on our official website.

But what are the benefits to scheduling your emails? That’s a good question:

Time zones

Tastemakers in New York City are usually up and working before the those on the West Coast. Tastemakers in London are eight hours ahead of Tastemakers in Chicago. Any influencer living in Australia is working sixteen-hours ahead of those living in Colorado. Confused? Us too.

Campaign scheduling empowers users to easily reach their contacts at the best times for those tastemakers. In a matter of minutes, a Haulix user can schedule campaigns for connections in different time zones.

Staggered Campaign Schedules

Not all tastemakers are the same, and they shouldn’t be treated as such. Instead of sending everyone a campaign at once, Haulix users schedule their campaigns to roll out based on the needs of their contacts and the preferences of their clients. High-priority contacts may get an album a month from release, but contacts with lower reach/importance may not be serviced an album until a week or two later.

Premieres

Great artists publicists know that the demand for access to the material they are promoting will spike immediately following a single release. If your new single is going to premiere at noon on a popular blog, then scheduling the advance to roll out to high-priority contacts a few minutes later can increase the likelihood of immediate engagement.

The problem is, the moments following a major premiere are hectic. Artists and publicists have to promote the release through their social media channels, monitor conversations, and engage with fans in real time. Campaign scheduling solves this problem, and even allows for creative subject lines to help further the narrative. For example, “Pup’s new single is out now, and here is the album!”

Campaign summaries

As an added bonus, the rollout of campaign scheduling also marked the debut of Haulix Campaign Summaries. Now, every campaign sent through Haulix generates a standalone activity page where users can view email engagement and promo engagement in a matter of clicks. Users are also empowered to easily send follow-up emails and direct links to their promos.

Look busy, even if you’re not

The music industry is a 24/7 business that does not care whether or not professionals have healthy personal lives beyond the office. Work comes first no matter what, but scheduling allows you to get ahead, if only long enough for a quiet lunch or a stroll around the block. Let’s face it: Everyone deserves a few minutes to relax, including you, but that doesn’t mean you campaigning has to stop. You just have to be more creative the competition!

Haulix Weekly Update #144: “Look, just give me some inner peace or I’ll mop the floor with ya!”

Hello, everyone! There are grey skies hanging over Minneapolis today, and because of this the temperature has fallen from the mid-70s to somewhere in the mid-60s. We consider this a blessing of sorts, as our entire team lives for Fall weather. The leaves are changing, cider mills are popping up, and a wealth of fantastic releases are beginning to trickle into record stores across the nation. One of our favorite albums of the year arrived in stores this morning, and to celebrate we thought we’d share a video for one of the album cuts we are currently obsessing over:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

If you look closely at the Haulix website you will notice a few cosmetic/aesthetic changes occurring in the weeks ahead. While we do not have any plans to bring the updated platform to the public before 2017 we are actively working to improve the way our platform looks and feels, especially for those who may have never interacted with our brand before. If you like what you see, feel free to tell us. If you hate what you see, please tell us so we can make any necessary changes.

Blog news:

With our platform overhaul taking a breather for the remainder of the year you can expect to see a lot of content and change coming to our blog. You may have noticed a new layout this week, but we are not ready to say this is the look we are sticking with for the foreseeable future. Like with our company website, we want this blog to more accurately reflect the quality product and services we offer industry professionals around the globe. That said, we are not going to stop publishing content 6 days a week or recording new episodes of our podcast. In fact, we are actually quite proud of everything we have going on right now.  If you missed anything as of late, especially our podcasts, please head over to our archive and catch up ASAP.

That’s all we have for this week. Tune in next week for a new job board, a very long podcast, and much more.

Haulix Weekly Update #143: “Bake ’em away, toys.”

Hello, everyone! We hope the first post-Labor Day work week has treated you well. The temperatures are starting to slide here in Minnesota and we could not be happier to know that Fall is just around the corner. After all, summer is nice, but can it really hold a candle to apple cider, corn mazes, pumpkins, Halloween, and all the other good things that come with Fall? Before you answer – no. The answer is always no. Check this out:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

After last week’s discussion regarding our plans to hold off on releasing the updated Haulix until the second-half of summer 2016 things have admittedly been pretty calm for our developers. Our current behind-the-scenes efforts are all about retooling what we already have and improving performances wherever we are able. We want to not only be the most reliable and secure service, but also the fastest and easiest to use. Some of you may think we already have that title, and if so – thank you. We still feel we have a ways to go, and we are not going to stop until we get there.

Blog news:

School is now back in session for most of the United States, so we figured this week was as good as any to jumpstart our content creation efforts. If you browse our most recent posts you will find advice on building a career in between classes, learning to prepare for – and handle – failure, and a few words on the need to make your music easily available online. We also ran a great podcast with Bryan Garris of Knocked Loose. If you missed anything as of late, especially our podcasts, please head over to our archive and catch up ASAP.

That’s all we have for this week. Check back here on Sunday for an all-new music industry job board.

XOXO

Haulix Weekly Update #141: “Never throw a butcher knife in anger.”

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the final Weekly Update of August. Can you believe we are almost eight full months into 2016? We swear time speeds up right around the time summer arrives.

We have some news and tidbits for you to enjoy, but first we wanted to share this wonderful little ear worm:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

As you have surely noticed by now, the old version of Haulix has been functioning normally for well over a week at this point. We learned some big lessons from the problems we encountered with our recent platform launch, and we learned even more when we decided to roll back to the version of our site that is now live at Haulix.com. These were the biggest takeaways from that experience:

– Moving forward, we need to be absolutely sure a new platform will function properly before pushing it live. We did a lot of testing this time around, but clearly there were things we missed. Next time we will be more thorough.

– The design itself was a bit overwhelming for some at first, but most users who got to click around the site came to appreciate the changes. We are sticking with the new UI moving forward for the most part, but there will  be a few changes made before we try to push it live again.

– Speaking of pushing it live, we currently have no timeline on any potential re-launch of the updated platform. We want to make it happen sooner than later, but we first want to make sure it is as good as it can possibly be.

– Duplicating campaigns needs to be easier

– Journalists need/want the option to see all their promos at once, but filtering tools are needed as well.

– People love headers, and we need to be sure the option to use them is present in campaign customization.

If you have additional feedback for us regarding your experiences with ‘new Haulix,’ please email them to: james@haulix.com

Blog news:

Things around the blog have been picking up as we move further away from the recent issues with platform development. We shared a full week of content in recent days, and we have plenty of entries to keep you entertained and informed planned for the weeks ahead. Our goal is to resume posting 6-10 new articles a week, in addition to an increased presence on social media.  If you missed anything as of late, especially our podcasts, please head over to our archive and catch up ASAP.

That’s all we have for this week. Check back here on Sunday for an all-new music industry job board.

Haulix Weekly Update #140: “Okay, the trampoline was a bad idea.”

Hello, everyone! This has been a week we will not soon forget. We have had so many ups and downs it is hard to keep track, but the weekend is here and we can finally breathe a sigh of relief. This song is making our day:

Each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

Unless you have been sleeping under a rock this week you no doubt heard (and possibly saw) that the launch of our new platform did not go as planned. We tested our system thoroughly prior to launch, but a lot can change when we push something as large the our updated system out for the first time. In an effort to get things working properly once more as fast as possible we ultimately decided to roll back to our classic platform, which is what you will now see if you visit haulix.com. Our current plan is to retool the updated platform and try for a second launch once the industry has taken its holiday break in late December, but that might change between now and then. We will keep you updated.

Blog news:

Our blog took a backseat to our development needs this week, but we did manage to run a few posts that are worthy of note. If you missed anything as of late, especially our podcasts, please head over to our archive and catch up ASAP.

That’s all we have for this week. Check back here on Sunday for an all-new music industry job board.

New Haulix Preview

Hello Everyone:

It’s been a year and a half in development and we are ready to launch the new version of our system!  Over the last few years, we have listened to your requests and this new version comes with quite a few new features and enhancements.

The launch will start Friday August 5 at 6PM CST and continue for the entire weekend.  We will be back up and running Monday morning August 8.

Monday, we will have customer support people available to answer questions or walk you through new features.

Promo Designs

Promos will be easier to customize. Upload a large background image and set a few colors and we’ll make everything come together and look professional.

Screens Fit Multiple Devices

Promos and almost all of the other system screens will be more responsive and adjust to fit desktop, mobile and tablet devices.

All press screens have been rebuilt, including their profile and ‘my promos’ screens.

Email Designer

All mailouts will be organized as campaigns. Send out promo invitations just like you do now AND press releases (NEW).

We built a drag and drop email designer that starts out as a blank canvas. You can add any combination of text or image blocks, upload images, re-use promo images already uploaded and change colors. You will have total control over how your emails look!

Campaign Statistics

All campaigns will have their own statistics pages.  We will track deliveries, opens, clicks (NEW), bounces and unsubscribes.

Promo invitations will have campaign specific statistics and global statistics across all campaigns.

This is just a small preview…  too much to include in one update!

Haulix Weekly Update #137: “Isn’t it nice we hate the same things?”

Hello, people of Earth. We hope this update finds you healthy, happy, and able to avoid the harsh heat wave currently plaguing our nation. The last few days have been unusually hot, especially for us here in Minnesota, but our team has managed to stay cool thanks to our constant presence in our air conditioned office. If you do not have AC at home we highly recommend visiting a library, cinema, or restaurant and enjoying their cool air. While you consider your options, watch this:

As I mentioned above, each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

We are so close to unveiling the new Haulix. We know we have said that roughly fifteen times in the past, but we have never meant it more than we do right now. The new Haulix is real, and our entire team has seen it in action. We’ve even begun showing clients some of the possibilities. For example, check out this mock promo we pieced together just last night:

Not too shabby, right?

We are keeping the launch date of the updated platform under wraps just in case something comes up, but suffice to so we hope to be pushing things live within the next couple weeks. Again, we have certainly said all this before, but we have never been as close to going live as we are right now. We promise, you only have to wait a little bit longer.

Blog news:

The focus of our outreach this week has been our podcast. We released two new episodes of Inside Music in recent days, and each showcases a unique perspective on this crazy business. The first, with Matt Halpern, tells of what it’s like to be a successful metal band. The second, with Mod Sun, captures the life of a rapper on the rise and all the challenges such a person faces on their journey to global recognition. We are very proud of these episodes, and we hope you find time to enjoy them in the days ahead. If you missed anything as of late, especially our podcasts, please head over to our archive and catch up ASAP.

That is all we have for today. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Best

Haulix Weekly Update #136: “Sit perfectly still. Only I may dance.”

Hello, everyone! We hope this update finds you staying cool during the height of summer heat. our ACs have been on overdrive, just like our development team. There are a lot of exciting reveals on the horizon for our team, and in this update we will give you a few hints about all we have in store. First, let’s all take a few minutes to relax and enjoy this great song:

As I mentioned above, each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

We know what you’re thinking, “Is this another update about how the new version of Haulix is coming along, but still not ready for public consumption?” The answer is yes AND no. The platform is actually nearly complete at this point, but unfortunately we do have a bit more work to do before pushing this massive platform overhaul out to the general public. Our entire team has spent the last several days testing the new platform, and though it looks great there are several small hiccups to the UI that we are still trying to iron out. Our hope, and this is just a hope right now, is to have the entire platform ready for launch by next Friday. If that happens and we have the team available to push it live then we will launch that very day. If not, then we will take a few more days and make sure we got it right.

We know some of you have started to grow impatient with our constant delays, but trust us when we say we feel the same. We want this platform out just as much, if not more than you do, and we are doing everything in our power to make that happen as soon as possible.

Blog news:

Though we have admittedly put our blogging efforts on the backburner while working to finish the new platform we did find time to push out several posts this week that we feel are quite important. Some of those articles focus on the responsibilities of journalists granted access to live events, the need to ignore hate born out of ignorance, and – of course – the continuation of our popular podcast, Inside Music. If you missed anything as of late, especially our podcasts, please head over to our archive and catch up ASAP.

That is all we have for today. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Best –

Haulix Weekly Update #135: “A toast to the host who can boast the most roast”

Hello, everyone! It’s the beginning of July and things are really starting to heat up at Haulix HQ. Everything we have been working towards for the better part of a year is so close to being ready for public consumption that we can hardly contain our excitement. That said, there is still a lot of work to be done, and we’ll most likely spend a good portion of our holiday weekend grinding away at our computers. It’s worth it though, because we know you’re going to love what we have in store. For now, watch this:

As I mentioned above, each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development updates:

This week our entire team was given the opportunity to explore the long-awaited Haulix update. For the first time since we started this journey (nearly a year ago) we were all able to see what we have been working towards in action. Bugs and mistakes were found, but that was the point. We want our team to know this platform inside and out so that they can better serve you, the customer, once we are ready to share these changes with the world.

And believe us, those changes are coming soon.

Blog updates:

Things on our blog continue to move along swiftly, but as our development teams continues to need assistance completing the impending platform overhaul we have admittedly been focusing the bulk of our energy on that project. Still, we did manage to get several posts out regarding the best methods for surviving this turbulent industry, as well as an in-depth podcast on the state of music blogging today.  If you missed anything as of late, especially our podcasts, please head over to our archive and catch up ASAP.

That’s all we have for this week. Check back Sunday for an all-new music industry job board.

Haulix Weekly Update #134: “Scanning for sarcasm…”

Hello, everyone! It’s the beginning of July and things are really starting to heat up at Haulix HQ. Everything we have been working towards for the better part of a year is so close to being ready for public consumption that we can hardly contain our excitement. That said, there is still a lot of work to be done, and we’ll most likely spend a good portion of our holiday weekend grinding away at our computers. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

We know we have spent the last few months promising the June launch of our completely overhauled platform, but unfortunately that is a promise we have to break. It’s now July, and we are still a couple weeks away from being entirely satisfied with the latest version of Haulix. Most of the coding work is done, but we have a lot of testing and Q/A work to do before we will feel confident in sharing our latest creation with the world. That said, we have made several screenshots of the new platform available online, and we are continuing to add new images on a regular basis. Click here to catch a glimpse of the future.

Blog news:

If you have been following our daily posts you’ll have no doubt recognized a lot of content being produced as of late. This is admittedly part of a two-fold plan. On one hand, we want to provide you with everything you need to navigate the modern music business. On the other hand, we know as we near the launch of the new Haulix we will not have time for content creation, so we’re shoveling out a lot of posts now to hold you over until we can return to business as usual. If you missed anything as of late, especially our podcasts, please head over to our archive and catch up ASAP.

That’s all we have for this week. Check back Sunday for an all-new music industry job board.
