How to Change your Apple Music Profile Picture

Apple Music has become the latest tech giant to surprise users worldwide by listening to the people responsible for the content their platform is built to promote. Following in the steps of Spotify, who recently unveiled a playlist submission feature, Apple Music artists can now upload and change the bio and profile photos associated with the artist page for Apple Music and iTunes.

The service, which is still in beta, is a much-needed addition. Artists who sign up for Apple Music for Artists are usually approved in a matter of days. New photos can be submitted under the Manage tab on the dashboard, and they must be at least 2400 x 2400.

The addition of this tool, which has been offered by Spotify for over year, should help Apple Music in their efforts to become the world’s leading streaming platform.

Here’s how it works:

1 Open Apple Music for artists and select the Manage option.

2. In the section labeled Artist Image, you can upload a new image. It MUST to be 2400 x 2400 and a .jpg or .png file.

3. Once the image is uploaded, you can adjust the crop and how it will appear on the service. When finished, select Submit.

4. Your image won’t appear changed because there is a manual approval process for new changes in place, but changes typically only take a few days to process. Once you see Submitted for Review, you know the process is underway.

What we have learned thus far in 2017

The end of June is upon us, which means we are already halfway through 2017. Can you believe it? We set high goals for ourselves this year, many of which we detailed in a length post that ran on this very blog back at the beginning of January. We promised we would be better, smarter company. We promised changes both big and small. We told everyone we knew that we would not let the setbacks of 2016 continue to make us afraid of change moving forward.

We are happy to report that we have stuck to our commitments and as a result have seen some growth in 2017. This growth falls in line with the growth our industry as a whole has experienced lately, but it is not something we ever take for granted. We have also – and perhaps far more importantly – succeeded in pleasing new and longtime clients through our development efforts. We have made good on promises that we may have let slip in the past, and through doing so improved our relationship with users.

If you told us we would be here back in December we might of told you it was all wishful thinking. We were never truly in dire straits, but after a platform relaunch failed spectacularly in the middle of August 2016 we tucked our tails between our legs and laid low. We did not talk about developing things further as much as we did better marketing what we had, what we knew worked and what we knew people wanted. “Why change?” We thought. “People like us just the way we are.”

Around the end of the year we had a change of heart. People may have liked us as we were, but we were not happy. We wanted a better platform, and we knew what needed to be done to get there. We could not afford to hire more development. We also could not afford to wait to pay the bills hanging over our heads of before making changes. If we wanted something done we had to do what we had always done, which meant doing it on our own.

Beginning in January we made lists of every update we felt our services needed. These items were pulled from conversations and emails with customers from the last five years, and we used the frequency they were requested to make a list of our top priorities. From there, we discussed the logistics of each update and tried to arrange them on a timeline that allowed us to make frequent updates throughout 2017 and beyond. We were no longer thinking about a single overhaul, but rather dozens of tiny updates spread out over time so that no one could ever feel as if the system they loved changed overnight.

We started small. The first few updates we made were not even noticeable to the average consumer, but the upgraded critical elements of our backend that we had been meaning to attend to for some time. Then we turned our vision to our site, our presentation, and even the layout of our help pages. We revisited every single page on our platform and made note of everything we knew could be better. We don’t have a final tally as to changes desired, but we know it to be in the dozens.

Most recently, our team began taking aim at the MyPromos and Profile pages. These elements of Haulix are some of the most important in our system. We don’t know when various elements of our planned changes will go into effect so we won’t detail too much right now, but do know changes will begin to appear in this section of our platform in early July.

It’s unclear if we have learned something new this year or if we just remembered what lead us to success in the first place. Haulix was never the result of hired gun developers coding a system they would never use or need. Haulix was built by members of the music industry for members of the music industry with security, ease of use, and customization in mind. Before last year we had done everything ourselves because we knew we could fulfill our dreams better than anyone could interpret them for us, but for some reason we lost our way. We tried to do something different that removed an element of authenticity from what we do. That might not be the sole cause of our relaunch failure, but it certainly contributed to it.

This year we have learned that we can – and should – do things ourselves. We have always promoted those who take it upon themselves to make a positive change in their lives because we know deep down that is the only true way to succeed. Maybe we forgot that at one point, or perhaps we thought we knew a better, more efficient way. Whatever the case, we know now we were wrong, and thankfully we are able to look back on this past year as a learning experience instead of something that nearly broke us.

Moving forward, every change and update made to Haulix will come through the work and input of the Haulix community. We are going to continue to serve our audience as we always have, making changes that fall in line with their needs, and we hope they continue to growth with us. For the first time in a year we can say the future truly looks bright, and we thank you for joining us on this journey.

We’re rolling back to the original site (for now…)

Dear Haulix Customers:

As most of you know, we launched a new website last weekend and it didn’t go as smooth as we planned.  We messed up and I know we let a lot of you down who depend on our services to get your work done.

The last couple of days have been a huge learning experience for us. We have listened to you.

With that said, the new site is going back into development and we are bringing the old site back.  All of your promos, contacts and data will be intact.

This migration back to the old site will span the entire day today.  You will be back to your familiar experience by tomorrow morning (Thursday August 11).

I understand some of you have lost faith in us.  All that I ask, is that you give us another chance and one more day to put things back the way they were.

If any of you have concerns or questions, you can email me directly at matt@haulix.com.

Sincerely,

Matt Brown – CEO

Haulix Weekly Update #137: “Isn’t it nice we hate the same things?”

Hello, people of Earth. We hope this update finds you healthy, happy, and able to avoid the harsh heat wave currently plaguing our nation. The last few days have been unusually hot, especially for us here in Minnesota, but our team has managed to stay cool thanks to our constant presence in our air conditioned office. If you do not have AC at home we highly recommend visiting a library, cinema, or restaurant and enjoying their cool air. While you consider your options, watch this:

As I mentioned above, each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

We are so close to unveiling the new Haulix. We know we have said that roughly fifteen times in the past, but we have never meant it more than we do right now. The new Haulix is real, and our entire team has seen it in action. We’ve even begun showing clients some of the possibilities. For example, check out this mock promo we pieced together just last night:

Not too shabby, right?

We are keeping the launch date of the updated platform under wraps just in case something comes up, but suffice to so we hope to be pushing things live within the next couple weeks. Again, we have certainly said all this before, but we have never been as close to going live as we are right now. We promise, you only have to wait a little bit longer.

Blog news:

The focus of our outreach this week has been our podcast. We released two new episodes of Inside Music in recent days, and each showcases a unique perspective on this crazy business. The first, with Matt Halpern, tells of what it’s like to be a successful metal band. The second, with Mod Sun, captures the life of a rapper on the rise and all the challenges such a person faces on their journey to global recognition. We are very proud of these episodes, and we hope you find time to enjoy them in the days ahead. If you missed anything as of late, especially our podcasts, please head over to our archive and catch up ASAP.

That is all we have for today. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Best

Haulix Weekly Update #128: “Shoulda, but didn’t-a”

Hello, music fans! At least, we assume you are music fans. We hope this message finds you ready and excited for the weekend. Our team has been trying to work throughout the day, but the onset of summer has us aching to flee the office and run wild outdoors. Before we get there however, we wanted to share a few thoughts with you, as well as some music. Let’s begin:

As I mentioned above, each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development news:

Let’s begin by answering the one question we are sure the majority of you have: When is the long-awaited platform update going to be release? The answer, at least as it stands right now, is the end of May. We have a team of devs working around the clock to get this beast completed, and we even went as far as to outsource additional developers to ensure we can push the new version of Haulix out as soon as possible. We deeply appreciate your patience.

Blog news:

Activity on the blog was up this week, but content creation is still taking a back seat to work on the new platform. We are quite proud of the material shared as of late, so please take a few moments to experience everything we have prepared for you. The best way to do that, at least in our opinion, is by scrolling through our archives. Enjoy.

That is all the news we have to share this week. Have a safe and productive weekend. We will see you back here on Sunday for a brand new job board.

Best,

Haulix

Haulix Weekly Update #123: “This doesn’t happen in America. Maybe Ohio, but not America.”

Hello, everyone! Welcome to another Haulix Weekly Update. Have you had a good week in the office? It has been unsurprisingly cold in Minneapolis, but our team has been making the best of it with long hours spend in warm offices plugging away at our next big release. We have a few important news items to share, but before we get there we wanted to show you this:

As I mentioned above, each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

COME SEE US LIVE!

We are less than two weeks away from the start of SXSW, and just like last year we will have people on the streets of Austin all week long. James Shotwell, Digital Marketing Coordinator, will be spear-heading our efforts on site. He will also be hosting our panel, which happens on Friday, March 18, from 2-3PM. Click here for more information.

Development news:

We’ve been asked to keep details at a minimum, but suffice to say this week the Haulix team received the last major piece of what we would consider the second of a three-part lead up to the release of our new platform. We are now just days away from beginning testing on all our upgrades, and after that is complete we will be pushing the finished project to all of you. More details soon!

Blog news:

With all the planning and work being put into the next phase of product development we have admittedly put our blog efforts on the back burner a bit. That said, we are still churning out 5-10 original columns every week, including our podcast (Inside Music). We may not be hitting the same quantity we did three months back, but we believe the quality of what we create is better now than ever before. Don’t believe us? Head over to the archives and see for yourself.

That is all the news we have to share this week. Have a wonderful weekend and be sure to check back tomorrow for a brand new Job Board.

Best,

Haulix Weekly Update #121: I swore never to read again after ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’

Hello, everyone! We’re a day late posting this update, but rest assured that all is well at Haulix HQ. We have some big changes on the horizon, and starting with this post we are going to reveal some of what lies in store. Before we get there however, we would like to begin this recap with a song we have had on repeat all week long. Check this out:

Development news:

Haulix is now relying on Microsoft Azure, and as a result we are more powerful than ever before. This was the first and biggest piece needed to make our long-planned relaunch happen, and now that it is in place we can finally focus on pushing this massive update to the public. It won’t happen overnight, of course, but before Spring arrives we plan to have an entirely new platform for clients and press to enjoy.

Haulix Weekly Update #121: “Do you follow my husband around to sell him hot dogs?”

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much for carving a small bit of time out of your surely busy schedule to browse our company blog. The month of February has been hectic so far, but each and every week we like to take a little time to sit back, reflect, and review everything that has transpired at HQ in the recent days. Before we get there however, we wanted to share a song that has been on repeat around our offices in Minneapolis. Check it out:

Development news:

We know we say this a lot, but you would not believe how cool the next version of Haulix will be. We understand that we tease the forthcoming update, currently codenamed ‘Falcon,’ a lot, but that is only because we find a new reason every single week to believe we are closer than ever from providing consumers with the perfect promotional distribution platform. From uploading and customization of promos, to the way journalists access our system and the quality of streams they’re able to access, we have made improvements big and small across the board. Functionality won’t change much, if at all, but the power offered to users will be greater than ever before.

As for a release date, it appears we are still not ready to drop that information just yet. When we are ready however, you will be the first to know.

Haulix Weekly Update #116: Hi-Diddly-Ho Neighboureeno

Can you believe three weeks have passed since we ran one of these updates? Work around Haulix HQ hasn’t stalled in the slightest, but we figured there was no real point in creating content on Christmas Day or New Years, and we hope you understand. We also hope you had a wonderful holiday break. Our was good, but like we said above our team’s hustle never really slowed. This week was like any other in that respect, but still some cool stuff developed that we would like to discuss. Before we get there however, listen to this:

As I mentioned above, each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. DEVELOPMENT NEWS:

The new version of Haulix is coming along smoothly, and we believe now that it will be live in time for SXSW in March. We still wish to keep most the details regarding the numerous updates planned under wraps, but we will say that the new Haulix will be easier to use and offer better security than any of our competitors can claim. We have poured everything we have into this project, and we will continue to do so until it is as good as it can possible be. You deserve nothing but the best, and we will find a way to make it available.

BLOG NEWS:

The blog has been a bit of a background piece this week, as our entire team continues to focus the majority of their time on the upcoming debut of our new platform. Haulix Weekly Update #115: “I’m A Star Wars”

Hello, everyone. We, like many of you, are counting down the final hours of our work week in hopes of seeing the latest Star Wars film before anyone spoils it for us. That has been a mission of our since the film was announced, but we don’t think anyone could have predicted just how hard avoiding spoilers would prove to be. This site, however, is a safe place. We don’t even write about Star Wars! We’re here to talk about the music business, and to be far more specific this post is about our role in the business of music, as well as how that role is changing. It’s also a place where we share songs we love, like this:

As I mentioned above, each and every weekend we like to take a brief break from our regularly scheduled programming to update and reflect on everything happening at Haulix HQ. We are far more than a music blog, as many of you already know, and posts like this give us an opportunity to share more our efforts with all of you.

Development News:

This is similar to the update from last week, which is another way of saying we are still working on our long-gestating site wide relaunch. Our development continued to work on the new version of Haulix all week long, and we will tell you first that a great deal of progress has been made. We know we originally planned to have this massive update done in time for the new year, but right now we are looking at a release closer to March. If that feels like forever away, trust us, we feel the same. Every effort is being made to complete this project as fast as possible, but we refuse to cut corners. We pride ourselves on having a product of the highest quality, and we refuse to let that slip in order to be a bit more timely with our release.

Blog News:

This week was the first of the holiday seasons where we noticed many of our peers logging off for the year. There is always an industry slowdown around Christmas, but some seem to be getting an early start on their vacation in 2015. Not us! We will be posting content right up to, and immediately following, Christmas Day. We don’t want you to spend a single day without having a place to turn for new lessons on music, so our efforts won’t stop anytime soon.
